TERRY FALLIS is author of The Best Laid Plans, and The High Road, satirical novels of Canadian politics. His debut novel (TBLP) was originally self-published in 2007 and since then has won the 2008 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, and names as one of the Top 5 Essential Canadian Novels of the Decade by CBC’s Canada Reads.
Prior to his fiction career, Mr. Fallis served on the political staff of the Hon. Jean Lapierre, the future Prime  Minister  of Canada Jean Chretien and Robert Nixon, Ontario Minister of Finance. Since then he has been a government affairs and communications consultant for major private and public sector clients.

The HON. DAVID CROMBIE, Order of Canada recipient, was the Mayor of Toronto from 1972 to 1978.  During this time, Mr. Crombie envisioned and oversaw the creation of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood  as  a model of a mid-rise, mixed-use, mixed-income community.  It remains a major urban success to this day.
Mr. Crombie left City Hall in 1978 for federal polit ics and served as Minister of Health and Welfare, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs, and later Secretary of State and Minister of Multiculturalism. After leaving Ottawa, he held several advisory positions related to urban issues in the Toronto area, including head of the Royal Commission on the future of Toronto’s waterfront. He recently retired from his position as CEO of the Canadian Urban Institute and continues to be an advocate for progressive and humane urban development.

CATHERINE MOREAU, Board Chair, Native Child and Family Services, is a Member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.  She is a member and the former co-chair of the Family Law Litigation Committee and a member of the Diversity Committee in the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation and has practiced in all aspects of family law since 2004.

Catherine volunteers within the community as chair of the board of directors of Native Child and Family Services of Toronto, and as a member-at-large of the board of directors of the Association of Children’s Aid Societies.

Christopher Hume is the architecture critic and
urban issues columnist for the Toronto Star.
Since he started writing for the paper in 1981, Hume has been nominated
for four National Newspaper Awards (critical writing
category) and has received a certificate of appreciation from
The Ontario Association of Architects.

His book, ‘William James’ Toronto Views’,
won a Toronto Heritage award in 2000.

What is the Supper Club?


The Toronto Dollar Supper Club is a monthly event that feeds body, mind and spirit.

Each month, a well-known speaker presents his or her views about our community, our city, our world, and those who live in it. The purpose of these talks is to inspire, create awareness of issues that affect us, and strengthen community relations and commitment.

The Supper Club events cost $30 paid for in Toronto Dollars (purchased at the event). 10% of this cost is put back into the community through the Toronto Dollars organization. For example, Toronto Dollars has recently committed $10,000 to a local children’s breakfast program. 

Place:  Hot House Café: corner of Front and Church Streets

Time:  5:30

Social Gathering: 6 – 7 p.m.   

            Speaker and discussion: 7 – 7:45 p.m.
