In co-operation with community groups who work with homeless people, Neighbourhood Innovations and the Toronto Dollar solicits submissions for the Frankly Bob Arts Award on an annual basis. Prizes will be awarded in both the visual and written arts as follows: 1st prize $350, 2nd prize $250, 3rd prize $100. There will also be three honourable mentions of $50 each.

A panel of writers and artists will adjudicate submissions.

The Neighbourhood Innovations Fund is a new donor-advised fund that operates through the Toronto Community Foundation, a registered charity. The intent of the fund is to provide supports to community-based innovations initiated by people who have experienced homelessness or long-term poverty. The Frankly Bob Arts Award is the first project of the fund.

Donations to the Neighbourhood Innovations Fund to support the Frankly Bob Arts Award can be made through the Toronto Community Foundation. Tax receipts will be issued.

The Toronto Dollar is a community currency whose mandate is to help in the building of a more caring society. With its origins in the St. Lawrence community of downtown Toronto, the Torornto Dollar is now welcomed in 140 businesses. 10% of all Canadian dollars exchanged for Toronto Dollars goes to support community projects.

The Fred Victor Centre has generously agreed to help in the organization of the awards by receiving, storing and providing a pick-up point for the return of submissions.

The Frankly Bob Arts Awards is named after Bob Lowthian, the first elected resident mayor of Streetcity. Greatly respective for his leadership and support to his peers, Bob encouraged many people to explore their creative spirit.
