The Writers' Union of Canada and the Toronto Dollar are pleased to announce a special SILENT AUCTION to take place in conjunction with the St. Lawrence Market’s Customer Appreciation Event, April 4, 2002, 6:30-9:30 PM. The annual event is attended by thousands every year who come to partake of the free food, entertainment, and the opportunity to network with the many community agencies and organizations that benefit from the Toronto Dollar. CityTV reporter Adam Vaughan will chair the evening’s events. All proceeds from the Auction benefit The Writers' Union of Canada and the Toronto Dollar. Invitations are free and available from the merchants at the St. Lawrence Market.

Union members are offering a wide variety of eclectic, one-of-a-kind items that include:

  • Office chair by Susan Swan, in which she sat while writing Casanova
  • Champagne and Roses with Michele Landsberg in her garden
  • Artwork by bill bissett
  • An afternoon birding on Toronto Island with Susan Crean and Fred Bodsworth
  • Dim sum with Wayson Choy
  • Lunches with Doris Anderson, June Callwood, Joy Kogawa, Joy Fielding, Richard Gwyn, & more
  • Betting voucher from Barry Callaghan
  • Afternoon sail at the Royal Yacht Club with a picnic lunch for 2 with Rose Dyson
  • Walk in the park with Janice Kulyk Keefer and Ben, her singing border collie, 2nd prize winner in Basic Black’s Musical pet contest
  • Many rare and first editions of books by Canadian authors, including 13 books by Margaret Atwood not available in Canada.
