Welcome to The Toronto Dollar Press Room

Since its launch in December 1998, the Toronto Dollar project has enjoyed considerable coverage in the media. Radio and television, the CBC, CTV, Global and City TV have all aired stories. The national newspapers, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Sun, and the National Post have all had items on the Toronto Dollar, with the greatest support coming from the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest newspaper.

Community newspapers have also played an important role in spreading the word, especially the St Lawrence Neighbourhood Community Bulletin that has not only carried numerous stories about the Toronto Dollar, but has listed the participating businesses. Along with Toronto Voice, the Community Bulletin accepts Toronto Dollars in payment for advertising. Local and national organizations have reported on the project in their newsletters.
