Volunteer Positions

Toronto Dollar Greeter and Booth Attendants:
Volunteers will hand out flyers and explain the benefits of our local currency program and assist people in exchanging their Canadian Currency for Toronto Dollars. A strong command of the English language is a must and all volunteers must have strong accounting and arithmetic skills. A good understanding of food safety issues, what constitutes a local and sustainable product or service and willingness to shop at and support local, community-based businesses is required. Volunteers are expected to live by the example that they are promoting.

Website & Social Media Assistants:
These positions will involve the maintenance and updating of the Toronto Dollar website, Twitter account, Facebook group, and other online resources. It is ideal for those who have a wealth of experience in creating/updating websites, online profiles and accounts.

Redemption Associates:
These positions involve the redemption of funds for businesses and individuals who wish to transfer their Toronto Dollars into Canadian currency. Strength in arithmetic is essential and cashier and/or treasury experience is an asset. 

Business Outreach:
These volunteers will recruit new Toronto businesses by explaining the benefits of joining the Toronto Dollar community currency program. Volunteers will also assist in the active promotion of local independent Toronto Dollar businesses.

Community Outreach Assistants:
The outreach assistants will communicate directly with community groups and individuals connected to the Toronto Dollar to form partnerships. Interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary for this position and a familiarity with the St. Lawrence Market is an asset.

Toronto Dollar Event Coordinating Assistants:
Toronto Dollar holds various events throughout the year such as volunteer social nights and awards nights, community concerts and fundraisers and other special events. The Event Coordinating assistants will be responsible to assist the event coordinator with the organizing and promotion of these events. Experience in event planning is an asset and organizational skills and an ability to meet deadlines are necessary skills. 

Marketing
Help to design advertising and promotional material for Toronto Dollar. Creating, printing and distributing a Toronto Dollar Newsletter in early 2011 will be another key responsibility.
